The Quran
“Those who are faithfully true to their amanah (all the duties which God has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts, etc.) and to their covenants…these indeed are the inheritors. Who shall inherit Paradise. And dwell therein forever” [Qur’an; 23:8, 23:10-11]
“Verily, God does command you to render back your Trusts to whom they are due.” [Quran; 4:58]
Hadith
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it.)” [Sahih Bukhari]
“When the practice of honouring a trust is lost, expect the Last Day.” [Bukhari]
