Courage

The Quran

“(Prophets are) those who conveyed Allah’s Message and feared Him, fearing no one except Allah. Allah suffices as a Reckoner” [Qur’an; 33:39]

“Believers are those to whom people said, “The people have gathered against you, so fear them.” But that merely increased their faith and they said, “Allah is enough for us and the Best of Guardians.” So they returned with blessings and bounty from Allah and no evil touched them. They pursued the pleasure of Allah. Allah’s favor is indeed immense.”[Qur’an; 3: 173-174]

Hadith

On the authority of Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Let not any one of you belittle himself. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how can any one of us belittle himself? He said: He finds a matter concerning Allah about which he should say something, and he does not say [it], so Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says to him on the Day of Resurrection: What prevented you from saying something about such-and-such and such-and-such? He say: [It was] out of fear of people. Then He says: Rather it is I whom you should more properly fear. It was related by Ibn Majah with a sound chain of authorities. [40 Hadith Qudsi]

Narrated Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the best, the bravest and the most generous of all the people. Once when the people of Medina got frightened, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rode a horse and went ahead of them and said, “We found this horse very fast.” [Bukhari]
